Slow start sees United fall

A slow start has been the downfall of Geelong United in their clash with Sydney.

United falling 74-81 against the Flames at Geelong Arena on Saturday night.

The team finding themselves in trouble from the early stages of the game, being outscored 25 to 12 in the first quarter.

Geelong would make a strong comeback, pulling the margin to within four during the final quarter, but where unable to hold the momentum, with the loss taking their record to 4-5 on the year.

Haley Jones was the leading scorer of the night for the women in blue, scoring 16 points, while Jaz Shelley put up her performance of the season with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists off the bench.

Keeley Froling continued her team MVP form with 10 points and 10 boards.

United now get a weeks break before heading to Perth to play the Lynx on December 23.
