I grew up in Geelong & have lived in Lara since 2012 with my partner of 23 years.
I like the country town feel of Lara yet it’s so close to the city. The new addition to the household is Charlie my Chocolate Labrador puppy.
I have loved the magic of radio since I was young. Extremely young.
This is me with my first radio at just 15 months old. In fact, every birthday or Christmas, all I ever really wanted was a radio.
At 11yo I started my own little “pirate” radio station in my backyard that broadcast to my neighbours.
At 16yo I signed up for Geelong Radio Legend Don “Mad Dog” Dwyer’s radio school, and landed a job at 3BA Ballarat in the final week of radio school.
I worked in Ballarat for a year, then returned home to work on air at radio 3GL / Krock in the late ’80s, then BayFM.
I then took an 18-year break from the microphone, moved to Melbourne & worked as a Mobile Network Engineer for Optus for 6 years.
I then went into the technical side of Television at ATV-10 Melbourne where I worked full time 2002 – 2016. I still work at Ten casually.
I missed radio terribly, and after a few years doing a tech segment with the Morning Crew, bay 93.9 Content Director Mark Hyland eventually caved (or took pity on me) and let me host the “Bay Property Guide” on Saturday Mornings for a few years.
In September 2016 I was offered a full-time position back on air presenting 10 am to 3 pm Workday shift on bay 93.9 and jumped at the opportunity.
Hobbies: I’m a keen astrophotographer taking photos of the night sky through my rather large telescope!
I also enjoy Amateur (Ham) Radio talking to people all over the world and the technical side of broadcasting & radio. I’m a bit of a geek!
What do I like about my job at bay93.9?
I seriously believe have the best job in the world.
I get to chat with my hometown every day about local events & happenings.
I get to sit in our brand new state-of-the-art studios & sing along to 5 hours of great music including the 80s Lunch from midday.
Getting paid to do what I love doing, in my hometown, like I said “best job in the world”.
