Another week, another weekend of sports and this week we ate good with the ANZAC clash rounds in local sport in the nation. But some news across the pond as we get news from the football leagues in the UK.
Liverpool are crowed the winners of the Premier League this morning after their dominating victory. They conquered the Premier League for the majority of the year but sealed their win defeating Tottenham 5-1. This victory secures Liverpools second Premier League title in 5-years.
In other football news, EFL League 1 saw Wrexham AFC receive their third promotion in a row after they defeated Charlton on the weekend. This will take the Welsh club to the Championship next year. This is the first time ever a club has received three consecutive promotions in the top 5 tiers of English football.
On Friday last week we saw the 30th round of the now iconic Essendon vs Collingwood ANZAC day clash. Whilst for the most part the game was pretty hotly contested, Collingwood pulled away the fourth quarter to secure a victory of 107-66. Collingwood veteran Steele Sidebottom claimed the ANZAC Medal, his second time winning the award, nearly a full decade after winning his first in 2016, but he also is now the oldest player to ever win the medal.
The Roosters and Dragons went toe to toe again in their 24th annual ANZAC day clash. Filling the Allianz Stadium with a sell-out 41,000 people the sides battled it out. The Roosters securing a dominant victory over the Dragons with a final score of 46-18. Rooster five-eighth Sandon Smith also earned himself the Ashton-Collier Medal for his incredible performance on the day.
