Transform Sleepless Nights with This 1 Simple Expert Tip

Struggling to catch enough Zs at night? Sleep expert and author Olivia Arezzolo has revealed a simple but effective tip to enhance your nightly snooze routine—taking a warm shower before bed. With nearly half of Australians dissatisfied with their sleep and only 20% experiencing uninterrupted nights, according to The Philips 2020 Global Sleep Survey, it’s no wonder many are searching for solutions.

Arezzolo explains that a warm shower helps lower your body temperature, which encourages the release of melatonin—a hormone essential for sleep. She also recommends adding calming scents like lavender and vetiver to your body wash, as these helps relax the nervous system, easing tension.

Once out of the shower, Arezzolo suggests creating a “sleep sanctuary” by keeping screens out of the bedroom, spritzing your pillow with calming scents, and applying essential oils to pulse points. Need something to unwind further? Try meditating or reading for 20 minutes instead of scrolling through your phone—the blue light from screens disrupts your sleep cycle.
